As stated by the Federal Reserve, appraisal reviews "must verify whether the appraisal or evaluation is suitable for the transaction, the danger of the transaction, and whether the manner by which the collateral valuation is obtained ensures independence and quality." They "must also denote whether the appraisal or evaluation report is compatible with the engagement letter, which sets forth the extent of the appraisal assignment." Last, The Federal Reserve says that "some institutions augment typical reviews with post-funding evaluations of appraisal quality for a few of their high-risk or high-value contracts as a means to assist in identifying valuation problems."
